Always give yourself credit for losing fat -- no matter how small the amount.
Losing only 1/4 pound of fat seems small, right? But it's not ... 1 stick of butter weighs 1/4 pound and contains over 800 calories!
Imagine that stick of butter under your chin -- it matters.
Another visual is to equate your overall weight loss to cans of Crisco. Each can weighs 3 pounds and is 100% fat -- so every 3 pounds you lose is like losing a can of Crisco from your body. Thirty (30) pounds of fat is like carrying 10 cans of Crisco everywhere you go! That's hard to even imagine... yet it is an accurate comparison.
Keep in mind that your weight naturally fluctuates and sometimes the scale isn't the best way to judge fat loss progress. There are more effective ways of measuring fat loss (see Weight Loss Tracking). That said ... when you can see your belly shrinking and you have lost weight, no matter how small ... imagining that stick of butter is a powerful visual of what that achievement actually means!
